Miller Gallery presents a much-anticipated show of recent oil paintings by John Michael Carter, one of our most awarded and widely collected artists.
Renowned for his portraits, figurative, still life, and landscape paintings as well as a distinctive palette, Carter's work is found in museums as well as major corporate and private collections. His commissioned portraits include those of numerous governors, senators, university presidents as well as corporate and civic leaders.
Born in Chicago, Carter attended the American Academy of Art in that city as well as University of Louisville, and Los Angeles Art Center College of Design where he studied the classical schools of painting and received a B.F.A.
Since 1975, Carter has had 41 one-man shows, participated in many group exhibitions and won multiple prestigious awards in national competitions.
