Ober-Rae Starr Livingstone is a self-taught artist who finds his inspiration in the beauty of nature. As a young man he worked on ships, hitchhiked, and rode buses and trains in order to travel around the world. Much of what he experienced visually and emotionally makes its way into his paintings. He has been painting for over 40 years and supporting himself through his art for the last 15 years.

Ober-Rae’s early work was largely abstract and it became more representational as the years went by and his desire to reflect the beauty he finds in nature became his passion. His current work reflects the love of color that he feels is essential to emotional well-being. He finds inspiration in numerous painters ranging from painters of the 60’s and 70’s like Rothko and Diebenkorn to current landscape painters such as M. Katherine Hurley and Peter Fiore, both of  whom demonstrate a magnificent use of color.

Ober-Rae has been juried into several shows by the ‘National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society’, of which he is a member, and of the ‘International Society of Acrylic Painters’, of which he is a signature member. He has won awards for his paintings from ‘Manhattan Arts International’ for their ‘Healing Power of Art” shows. He has been published in the ‘Art to Art Palette’ and has an upcoming feature article in the ‘Acrylic Artists’ magazine. His work can be found in private and corporate collections in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
